Downtown: A tornado hit the town of Buffalo Lake at 7:46 pm on June 24, 2003 destroying many of our downtown businesses and causing extensive damage to our two churches as well as many homes.

The EDA worked very hard to restore our downtown area by working with other organizations and very determined citizens to secure grants and funds to rebuild our Grocery Store, Bakery and also worked with the U.S. Postal Service to build a new Post Office in the City of Buffalo Lake.
